Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Two more people have been arrested in connection with a fight in downtown Jonesboro that occurred earlier this month.

22-year-old Kenneth Dewayne Amerson and 23-year-old Shawn Demarcus Kinnon, both from Steele, MO., stood before District Judge David Boling on Oct. 24, who found probable cause to charge them each with first-degree battery. Amerson and Kinnon were arrested after police said they were among several people involved in a fight that occurred on Oct. 5.

Court documents said officers found two victims who appeared to have been beaten and required urgent medical attention. At the scene, multiple people were arrested due to interfering with officers’ duties, not the victims’ injuries.

According to Amerson’s affidavit, video footage showed him punching and stomping both victims with multiple people helping.

The affidavit said at one point, the victim who would later be taken to a hospital for a brain bleed was trying to run away, when Amerson pushed him to the ground from behind. Amerson then stomped the victim’s head multiple times as the victim covered it while in a fetal position.

According to Kinnon’s affidavit, he was seen on video confronting a man. A witness said the man Kinnon confronted called a woman Kinnon was associated with a vulgar name. As Kinnon squared up to him, a woman struck the man, and one of the victims.

That’s when Kinnon left the man and got a running start to punch the victim, the same one who would be taken to the hospital for a brain bleed, the affidavit said. However, police said Kinnon struck both victims multiple times in the fight.

Both were identified by their appearance in the video and were arrested on Oct. 23.

During Friday’s hearings, Boling set bond at $20,000 cash/surety for Amerson, while Kinnon received a $30,000 cash/surety bond. He also ordered Kinnon to have no contact with the victims.

Amerson and Kinnon are scheduled to be back in court on Dec. 16.

Including Kinnon and Amerson, six suspects have been arrested in connection with the fight, including 21-year-old Tawonn Donshae Amerson, of Steele, MO., 21-year-old Mark Jones, 19-year-old Mataiya Sky Phillips, and 29-year-old Dashawn Cortez Pruitt, also of Steele, MO.

Court documents said they were also seen on video participating in the fight. They each face first-degree battery charges and are due back in court Dec. 16.
