Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $250,000 bond after police said he repeatedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and threatened to kill her upon learning she was dating someone else.

On March 23, Jonesboro police responded to a disturbance in progress on the 2500 block of East Johnson Avenue. The victim told officers that her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Shatreon Taequan Dorsey, had repeatedly entered and exited her apartment through the front door and side patio.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Dorsey was upset that the victim was dating someone new. The victim reported feeling shaken and fearful of imminent physical injury, telling police Dorsey looked “manic and angry” while inside the apartment and implied he was armed.

While officers were still at the scene, Dorsey called the victim multiple times. During one call, police overheard him threatening to kill both her and her new partner.

Officers soon located Dorsey in a vehicle near the apartment and arrested him at 9:02 p.m. A search of his vehicle revealed a hammer, a hatchet, and a black face mask.

On March 25, District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Dorsey with the following offenses:

  • Aggravated residential burglary (Class Y felony)
  • First-degree terroristic threatening (Class D felony)
  • Harassment/surveillance to harass (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Third-degree assault (Class C misdemeanor)

Judge Fowler set Dorsey’s bond at $250,000 cash or surety and ordered him to have no contact with the victim. Due to a reported history of violence, Dorsey’s bond conditions also require him to wear a GPS ankle monitor and prohibit him from possessing weapons.

Dorsey is scheduled to appear in court on May 18. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison and fines of up to $13,000.
