Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Behind a season-high 15 three-pointers, Arkansas State women’s basketball earned its seventh straight win and opened conference play with a 79-58 victory over ULM on Wednesday night inside First National Bank Arena.

A-State totaled 19 steals, the eighth time to reach that mark, and only gave up eight to the Warhawks. The 27 turnovers forced keep the pace for second nationally, at 28.1 turnovers forced per game.

Marlie Dickerson led the team with 18 points on 54-percent shooting (6-for-11) from the floor and a 50-percent clip from three-point range (3-for-6). Mia Tarver scored 15 on five threes, posting a 5-for-10 mark from beyond the arc.

The Red Wolves started hot with back-to-back threes from Tarver, followed by another from Dickerson. A trio of free throws added to the A-State point total, and a three-point basket from Mimi McCollister aided in a one-point lead after the first quarter, 15-14.

Tarver, Dickerson, and McCollister each contributed another three early in the second quarter to build the Red Wolves’ lead to double digits. The final four minutes of the quarter saw the Red Wolves outscore the Warhawks 14-9, setting up a 12-point halftime lead solidified by a pair of driving layups on the final two possessions by Dickerson.

A 7-0 run to open the third quarter put the Red Wolves in a good position despite ULM finding six points of their own. A-State landed four triples in a quarter for the third time in the contest to take a 63-42 advantage into the fourth.

Both squads treaded water throughout the final quarter, trading buckets back and forth as both teams finished with an added 16 points. The Red Wolves added four more steals to bring the total to 15, with two coming from Zyion Shannon late.
