Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Downtown Jonesboro Alliance’s (DJA) Culinary Crawl is returning in April, but this time with a brunch twist.

While the DJA has hosted a Culinary Crawl for the past two years, this is the first year it is implementing a brunch edition. Previous Culinary Crawls, which have focused on downtown Jonesboro’s dinner scene, are designed like a progressive dinner, in which participants sample a drink, appetizer, entrée or dessert from different participating restaurants.

“We wanted to kind of do a spinoff of it, and we thought doing the complete opposite of the same event and doing a spring brunch would be great,” said Sarah Doss, DJA executive director. “Over the years, we have more brunch opportunities in downtown anyway. We have a couple restaurants who have done brunch in the past and are coming back for just this one event, so it’s gonna be a special thing.”

During the event, participating restaurants curate a special menu. There are six restaurants participating, which are listed below:

  • The Parsonage
  • The Recovery Room
  • Lemonade House Grille
  • The Cotton Club
  • Skinny J’s
  • Margaret’s

During the crawl, participants will receive vouchers to cash in at the restaurants for menu items in one of four categories: a beverage, spicy food, sweet food, and savory food. One change Doss noted for this event is that diners can cash in all of their vouchers at just one restaurant if they wish, which participants could not do during the dinner crawls.

“If you really love one restaurant, you can stay at one and use all your vouchers. However, the hope of this is that you’ll continue with the progressive-style brunch and taste as you go,” Doss said.

Doss said events like this help promote downtown Jonesboro’s restaurant culture beyond its dinner scene, in addition to the area as a whole.

“We have great brunch spots citywide, honestly. But some of my favorites – in my opinion – the best ones we have downtown. Just reminding people that we have more to offer than just dinner, we have excellent patios for lunches and special things for brunch and things like that,” Doss said. “Every year, downtown has more and more to offer, more restaurants, more exciting things.”

Tickets for Culinary Crawl-Brunch Edition are live now on the DJA website and are $50 a piece. Diners are asked to bring cash for tips. The crawl is scheduled for April 18, with vouchers active from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets.
