Daylight Saving Time to end soon

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – It’s almost time to fall back with Daylight Saving Time (DST) coming to an end.

According to the Time and Date website, people in areas that observe DST should turn their clocks backward one hour on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 a.m. This will shift the local sunrise and sunset times by one hour, resulting in more natural daylight in the morning and less in the evening.

The website also gave several tips for coping with the clock change, including:

  • Adjust your sleep schedule gradually by going to bed 10 to 15 minutes earlier than usual, and trying to wake up earlier
  • Reset your body’s clock by stepping outside early for some early-morning light
  • Avoid caffeine late in the day
  • Maintain regular sleep and mealtime schedules
  • Allow a few days to adapt and avoid heavy schedules if possible

While multiple attempts have been made to make a permanent standard time in Arkansas, all have failed.

According to information on the Arkansas State Legislature website, the most recent attempt was House Bill 1069, which died in the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs in May.

The bill, titled “To Observe Standard Time Year Round in Arkansas; and To Eliminate Daylight Saving Time in Arkansas,” was filed by Rep. Stephen Meeks (R-District 42) on Dec. 18, 2024. Meeks previously filed a similar bill in 2023. Rep. Johnny Rye (R-District 36) also filed bills in both 2020 and 2022.
