Paragould, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Downtown Paragould has been selected as one of only 26 cities nationwide to receive a grant to revitalize properties and showcase local talent.

Main Street – Downtown Paragould received a $45,800 grant from T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants program for “Blight to Bright,” an initiative aiming to transform the area of 106 W. Main St. in Paragould. This will include painting murals, installing seating and shade, and overnight lighting, according to a Facebook post from the organization.

“Blight to Bright is not just a physical transformation; it’s a cultural shift. It signals that even the most graffiti-covered spaces hold potential, and that creativity, collaboration, and community vision can turn blight into something truly bright,” the post said.

Over 2,000 communities nationwide applied for the grant, according to a press release from T-Mobile. The company partnered with the nonprofit Main Street America to select the final recipients, which were determined based on each application’s details, impact on the community, feasibility, and more.

The grant program began in April 2021 and has funded 500 community development projects across the country, the press release said.

“The T‑Mobile Hometown Grants program has proven that when communities are given the tools and resources to pursue their own vision, remarkable things happen,” said Erin Barnes, Main Street America President and CEO. “From historic building restoration to the creation of new outdoor gathering places to technology upgrades and so much more, the 500 communities impacted by this program reflect the creativity, determination, and innovation of small-town leaders. Main Street America is honored to have partnered with T‑Mobile on this journey, and we look forward to watching and supporting these communities in their continued growth for generations to come.”
