Former A-State Football Player and NFL Scout Convicted for Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend

Nashville, TN – Jonesboro Right Now – Former Arkansas State University football player and NFL scout Blaise Taylor has been convicted of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, according to multiple reports.

WSMV 4 in Nashville reports that jurors unanimously convicted Taylor after about two hours of deliberation. The jury found him guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree premediated murder, and guilty of two counts of felony murder.

Taylor had been accused of slipping a fatal dose of cocaine into the drink of his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, in 2023, causing the deaths of both Benning and the unborn baby. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Utah in 2024.

Taylor was a scout for the Tennessee Titans until 2023. He was a four-year starter at A-State, where he was a captain and earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors as both a defensive back and a punt returner, according to ESPN.
