Paragould, AR – Contributed – The Greene County Rescue Squad has partnered with the Arkansas Community Foundation of Greene County to establish the Greene County Rescue Squad Community Endowment.

This permanently endowed fund totals more than $275,000 and will provide annual support to the Western Greene County Fire Department and the Greene County Community Fund.

“We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation and the generous community donors who have invested in the Greene County Rescue Squad over the past 42 years,” said Jeremy Heath, Chief. “Their support has saved hundreds of lives and made this investment in our community possible.”

Founded by Butch Heath in 1983, the Greene County Rescue Squad responded to emergency situations across northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri with the equipment and resources needed to save lives. The organization closed its doors in 2026, and the Western Greene County Fire Department continues to serve the community.

Community members may continue the squad’s legacy by donating to the Greene County Rescue Squad Community Endowment here.

“I am pleased that the Greene County Rescue Squad trusted the Community Foundation as a partner in creating this lasting legacy,” said Kerri Watson, executive director. “It affirms the importance of our mission to build stronger local communities and directs philanthropic dollars in a way that benefits Greene County for years to come.”
