Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – A quick trip to the gas station on Mother’s Day led a Jonesboro couple to an instant lottery win.

Matthew O. and his wife won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked, a $20 instant game. They claimed their prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on May 11.

The winning ticket was sold at Maverik #5127, 4810 E. Highland Drive in Jonesboro.

Matthew purchased the winning ticket for his wife as a Mother’s Day gift. The couple and their children stopped at the gas station after eating at a local restaurant. While the kids were picking out candy and snacks, Matthew’s wife had her eye on the $50,000 Stacked ticket.

“I want that one,” she told the clerk.

Matthew’s wife scratched the ticket while he drove home. To his shock, she began to cry—she had won a top prize.

“I couldn’t believe it until I pulled over,” MaKhew told lottery officials.

Initially thinking the prize was $30,000, the couple quickly realized they had actually won $50,000. So far, the couple has only told their family and Matthew’s boss.

“They didn’t believe me at first!” Matthew laughed. “I had to send a video of the ticket.”

Fifty top prizes remain on the $50,000 Stacked.
