Jonesboro Fire Department Shares April Run Report

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – In April, the Jonesboro Fire Department (JFD) responded to just over 1,000 incidents within the 80+ square miles that make up the JFD’s region, including the Arkansas State University campus.

Of those incidents, the majority were medical, totaling 617 incidents or just over 61% of all responses. Medical runs range from illness to trauma, and the fire department acts as a responder.

Only 70 JFD runs, or just under 7%, were fire responses. Of those runs, the majority, 27 total, were for outside trash fires. Only eight fire runs in April had structural involvement.

There were 153 “no emergency” runs, which consist of false or accidental alarms. An additional 129 alarms were classified as “public service.” Public service runs can range from a damaged hydrant to assisting with a lift or fire alarm.

Hazardous situation alarms accounted for 33, or 3.27%, of all alarms in April. Those situations range from downed electrical power lines to non-chemical motor vehicle collision runs.

In addition, there were seven runs classified as “rescue,” three of which were elevator rescues, with the remaining various forms of entrapment. Finally, there was one law enforcement support run in April.

The JFD’s mission is, “To save lives, protect property, and serve our community as professionals with courage, commitment, and compassion. The department is staffed by over 130 full-time personnel and operates from seven stations throughout the city.
