Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug. 22, 2025 – A Level 3 Jonesboro sex offender is facing a failure to comply charge after court documents said he failed to verify information regarding his location within the deadline.

According to an affidavit, 20-year-old Kris-Shawn Ladale Payton had completed a change of address May 12 to an address in the 800 block of North Church Street and was given a verification due date of July 29. However, he failed to meet that deadline and became delinquent Aug. 3.

The affidavit said that on July 26, 2024, Payton was convicted of sexual indecency with a child. On Nov. 6, 2024, he was assessed by the Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment, resulting in a Level 3 offender assessment.

State law says that Level 3 offenders cannot live within 2,000 feet from a property on which any school or daycare facility is located, as well as public parks, youth centers, and the home of the victim.

Payton was found and arrested Aug. 20 at his home on North Church Street.

On Aug. 22, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Payton with failure to comply with reporting requirements. Fowler said this was Payton’s second offense in 2025 and was on probation.

For those reasons and his sex offender status, Payton was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond and ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Payton’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 30.
