Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRIghtNow.com) – Police said a Jonesboro store manager used glue and fake numbers to mask a two-month embezzlement scheme before fleeing with a company laptop and bag of cash when confronted about the scheme.

District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Feb. 2 to charge 47-year-old Cameron Scott Cooper with two class C felonies: One count of theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 (all others), and 13 counts of second-degree forgery.

According to the affidavit, on Dec. 8, 2025, a business owner reported that store manager Cooper embezzled up to $16,000 in cash deposits. An interval review showed a pattern of fraud occurred between Oct. 3, 2025, and Nov. 29, 2025.

Some of Cooper’s methods noted by police included physically altering older bank deposits by gluing fake numbers over the original totals to mask missing funds and marking out the date on the receipt to hide when they were printed. Police said he would also sell items for cash, such as a $400 couch, and subsequently voided the transactions in the POS system to pocket the cash.

The affidavit said that when Cooper was confronted about the discrepancies, he fled with the company laptop and a cash deposit bag containing $979.25, claiming a “family emergency.” He was arrested Jan. 31, according to the online jail roster.

Noting Cooper has a history of theft and forgery, including a 2019 fraud charge, Fowler gave him a $75,000 cash-only bond.

Cooper’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 20.
