Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Police arrested a man after they said a violent disturbance left staff members with visible bite marks and injuries while trying to restrain him.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 6, Jonesboro police officers responded to the 2700 block of East Johnson Avenue for a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, staff members restrained 34-year-old Dominique Jamal Earley, of West Memphis, AR, after attacking one of them.

Staff members said Earley had pushed another resident of the facility, prompting one of the victims to intervene. This caused Earley to get more upset, and he swung at the victim. Another victim came to help restrain Earley.

During the struggle, Earley fought both victims via eye-gouging, biting, and causing abrasions to them. Police noted the victims had distinct bite marks where teeth impressions were visible, and redness around their gouged eyes. One of the victims also had abrasions on their upper back.

Earley was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center by 9:33 a.m., according to the online jail roster.

On Feb. 9, Earley appeared before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge him with battery – second-degree/causing physical injury to medical personnel (Class D felony).

Boling noted that Earley had a lengthy violent criminal history and multiple failure-to-appear charges. This would make it his 17th arrest.

Because of this, he was given a $50,000 cash/surety bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, required to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release, and a request for a mental health evaluation was made for him.

Earley’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 20.
