Paragould Man Accused of Fatally Shooting Roommate, Held on $1M Bond

Paragould, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A fatal weekend shooting in Paragould has left one man dead and his roommate facing a first-degree murder charge.

Paragould police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 900 block of East Court Street. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to a news release, the victim, identified as Scott Hendrix, of Paragould, was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Following the initial response, the department’s Investigation Division arrested 55-year-old Steven Van Sickle, Hendrix’s roommate, in connection with the fatal shooting.

Van Sickle was booked into the Greene County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

Authorities stated the investigation remains active, and no further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting are being released at this time.
