Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Craighead County Quorum Court will meet Monday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the County Courthouse Annex, with several policy, funding, and appointment items on the agenda.

Cost-of-living policy returns for second reading

One of the key items under old business is the second reading of an ordinance updating the county’s salary administration policy, specifically dealing with cost-of-living adjustments.

The proposed change would allow elected officials and department heads to give cost-of-living raises to employees after 90 days of employment, rather than requiring a full year of service in all cases. The adjustment would remain discretionary and tied to budget limits.

Several financial items are scheduled for committee discussion following the main meeting, including:

An appropriation ordinance to fund a jail roof replacement project
An ordinance tied to the county’s annual clean-up efforts
Budget adjustments for the Veteran Treatment Court grant
A proposed salary appropriation for the head probate clerk position
Monthly reports from the county collector and treasurer
Board appointments and private club permit up for consideration

The Public Service Committee will take up multiple appointments, including:

Reappointment of Kevin Bailey to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission
Reappointment of David Cline to the Valley View Fire Protection District board

Also on the agenda is a private club permit application for 141 Prime at Sterling Springs, a proposed restaurant concept that would operate as a private club and host dining, events, and occasional live entertainment, according to application materials included in the meeting packet.

Also submitted with the meeting materials are annual financial transparency reports from Craighead County fire protection districts, offering a snapshot of their financial health.

These annual filings are required under Arkansas law and provide transparency into each district’s finances, including debts, delinquent assessments, and governance.
