Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The second annual Extreme Karaoke Battle hosted by the Foundation of Arts (FOA) has been scheduled.

The competition, set for Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., raises money for the FOA’s Outreach programs. These programs include the Pay What You Can Nights, the LEAP program, arts classes tuition assistance, and more. Learn more here.

The competition will take place at the Forum Theater, located at 115 E. Monroe Ave., and will be emceed by an on-air personality from the Jonesboro Media Group.

Applications for contestants are still open. Contestants can include businesses, schools, churches, or nonprofits. Each participant will pay a $25 entry fee.

The event is free for the public to attend; however, audience members are encouraged to vote for their favorite performer via voting jars in the Forum lobby or through a QR code. According to the FOA, $1 equals one vote.

Voting will open a week ahead of the event, with the FOA announcing each contestant online. Participants are also encouraged to promote themselves, such as through donation jars, sharing links online, or “anything to build up the excitement.”

An act can be made up of one vocalist or a group not exceeding 12 people in total.

“Participants are encouraged to dress up, bring props, dance if you like, be silly. Own the stage and work the crowd,” the competition rules said.

The FOA said there will be no rehearsal in its space, only a microphone pre-check between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Participants must prepare their chosen song ahead of the event, which must be family-friendly and no longer than three minutes. The selected song must be provided as a karaoke version YouTube link.

The winner will be the participant with the highest number of votes, which will be announced at the end of the night and presented with a plaque and prize bag.

“Remember, it’s not about vocal ability. It’s about the stage presence…and also the votes. HURRY! Spots are limited,” an FOA press release announcing the event said.
