‘Speak Out’ Parkinson’s Program to be Topic During Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club Meeting

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Dr. Shannon Brantley, associate professor of communication disorders at Arkansas State University, will speak to the Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club about a Parkinson’s disease program.

The program, called “Speak Out,” is a speaking program for those with Parkinson’s. Through training, it helps patients retain and regain their speech and swallowing. The program is free and can be done in-person or online.

Parkinson’s is a movement disorder affecting the nervous system. It can result in tremors, trouble balancing, stiffness, and slowing of movement, with symptoms worsening over time.

The club will meet on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 a.m. at Eggsellent Café, located at 906 S. Caraway Road. Visitors are welcome.
