The Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas Announces Housing Development for Adults with Disabilities

Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The Learning Center of Northeast Arkansas (TLC) announced The Village of TLC, a new housing development designed to provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with greater independence, security and a place to call home.

The Village of TLC is being made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Chris and Jamie Fowler Family, who have committed $1.5 million toward TLC’s $6 million capital campaign to construct 20 accessible apartments in Jonesboro.

The Fowler Family’s transformational gift represents a significant milestone in TLC’s campaign and brings the organization closer to making this long-held vision a reality for adults with IDD and their families throughout Northeast Arkansas.

“We are incredibly grateful to Chris, Jamie and their family for believing in this vision and making such a meaningful investment in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said TLC Executive Director Dr. Lynn Cooper. “The Village of TLC will be more than an apartment development. It will be a community where individuals have the opportunity to experience greater independence, build meaningful connections and live with the dignity and support they deserve.”

TLC launched its $6 million capital campaign in June to address the need for safe, affordable and supportive housing for adults with IDD in the Jonesboro community. The Village of TLC will feature 20 accessible apartments designed to provide residents with the opportunity to live as independently as possible while remaining connected to the services and support they need.

Each apartment will offer a home-like environment with a full kitchen, refrigerator, in-unit washer and dryer, and an individual front porch designed to encourage connection among neighbors and create a true sense of community.

The name The Village of TLC reflects the heart of the project: creating not simply housing, but a community centered on independence, belonging and opportunity.

The announcement was presented during TLC’s annual Keys to Independence fundraising event on Oct. 2 at The Lounge at Huntington Square, 313 W. Huntington Ave.

Proceeds from Keys to Independence will support TLC’s mission and the capital campaign to bring The Village of TLC to life.
