Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The Nutcracker Ballet, presented by the Foundation of Arts (FOA), will once again grace the Forum Theater stage later this month.

FOA Marketing Director Meridith Pierce said that, as one of the FOA’s longest standing traditions, the ballet has become a tradition for many Northeast Arkansas families as well.

“It’s something that families come back to time and time again to enjoy,” Pierce said. “It’s just been built in to be part of their holiday season, and we have so many families who come and participate.”

Pierce noted that many families whose ballerinas have graduated high school and moved off to college, will come back each year and continue to volunteer with the new generations because it’s special to so many people.

“It’s something a little different to do around the holiday season and a cool opportunity to see theater told through dance,” She continued. “Some people are surprised. They show up thinking it’s a play or musical or something, but they may not have ever seen a ballet before. It’s a neat experience to have if that’s a first for you.”

With a timeless Tchaikovsky score and choreography, The Nutcracker tells the tale of young Clara as she befriends a nutcracker who comes to life on Christmas Eve and is swept into a world of toy soldiers, dancing snowflakes, and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The ballet will be Nov. 21-25 at The Forum Theater, located at 115 E. Monroe Ave. in Jonesboro. Times are as follows:

  • Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.

Tickets range from $22-$26, depending on section and location. To purchase tickets, click here.

“We hope that people get their tickets early because it does fill up very, very quickly,” Pierce said. “And so waiting to get your tickets at the door, you may get very limited seating available or it could potentially be sold out because it’s one of our fuller productions.”
