Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug. 28, 2025 – The Warrior Center, a faith-based nonprofit, will be hosting its fourth “Your Future Awaits” Job Fair in September.
According to The Warrior Center CEO and founder Rev. Carolyn Whiteside-Kendall, while the center is typically geared toward helping minority women living on the brink in Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas, the job fair is open to the public, including both men and women.
The job fair is held in both spring and fall.
“The goals of the job fair are for me to get as many people as I can gainfully employed,” Whiteside-Kendall said. “That’s why I named it ‘Your Future Awaits’… because I want them to have a future and a hope. That is, of course, relating back once again to the Bible because God knows the plans. Jeremiah 29:12: ‘God knows the plans that he has for us, and the plans are to prosper.’”
Among the various organizations to be represented at the fair are the City of Jonesboro, St. Bernards Healthcare, Research Solutions, Legal Aid of Arkansas, Arkansas Workforce, Jonesboro Workforce, Nucor, Jonesboro Human Development Center, Trinity Rail, ARDOT (Arkansas Department of Transportation), Crye-Leike Real Estate Services, Research Solutions Inc., Arkansas Department of Corrections (McPherson State Prison), and more.
The event will feature drawings and giveaways, with two random drawings every hour for attendees. There will be free Narcan given out at the event as well.
Whiteside-Kendall also noted that The Warrior Center offers pre-job fair assistance such as resume building help, advice on appropriate interview attire and professional clothes for women from a dedicated clothes closet.
Having worked with the Department of Human Services for over thirty years, Whiteside-Kendall said she noticed many minority women entering the workforce later in life who were ill-equipped to deal with the process.
Whiteside-Kendall said she founded the center in 2022 with the aim of empowering individuals and fostering self-sufficiency.
Through the center, she helps minority women transition from substance abuse or abusive relationships and recognize their resources by offering Christian counseling and individual program plans tailored to specific needs, including financial/economic literacy and educational resource training.
The center also provides other free community events and services throughout the year, including its annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaways, Valentine’s events with formal dress and photo booths, free notary services for legal documents, such as wills and divorces, and distributes free bus passes provided by the City of Jonesboro.
“We’re out there and just trying to be effective in the community,” Whiteside-Kendall said. “We want to be effective and affective because we want to have a positive effect on the people that we serve. You cannot just be in the community. You have to be effective at what you do and have a positive effect on others.”
The job fair will be Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Parker Park Community Center, located at 1506 N. Church St.
Translators will be available for the Hispanic community. Attendees should bring a driver’s license, know their Social Security number, and dress appropriately.
