Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Three people were killed, two others injured in a three-vehicle accident Friday afternoon West of Paragould.

Arkansas State Police Cpl. Benjamin Rapert identified those killed as Duane Smith, Jr., 40, of Jonesboro; Christine Sta Ana, 31, of Jonesboro; and Sherry Felty, 52, of Paragould.

Rapert said Bruce Owens, 49, of Paragould, as well as an unidentified minor, were injured.

According to Rapert’s accident report, Owens was driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Highway 412 following a westbound 2025 Freightliner. The report said Owens attempted to pass the Freightliner and crossed the center turn lane into the eastbound traffic lanes. As Owens traveled back across the eastbound lanes, the front of Owens vehicle struck the front of an eastbound 2020 Jeep Renegade driven by Smith. The Freightliner then struck the resulting debris in the roadway.

Sta Ana was a passenger in the Jeep Renegade as was the unidentified minor.

The driver of the Freightliner was not identified in the report and was not injured.

Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder said in a Facebook post that one of the vehicles involved in the accident caught fire
