UPDATE | Victim in fatal pedestrian accident in Jonesboro identified by Arkansas State Police

UPDATE:

The Jonesboro Police Department (JPD) released information on its social media Thursday afternoon regarding the accident.

In a news release, JPD said emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident and found Dickson lying in the roadway. The release said Dickson had been struck by a 2016 Jeep Compass, which was driven by David Slatton, 65, of Jonesboro.

Emergency personnel rendered aid on scene, and Dickson was taken to St. Bernards, where he later died of his injuries.

“Mr. Dickson had entered the crosswalk on Washington Avenue. The driver of the Jeep made a left-hand turn at the intersection of Main and Washington. The driver did have the green light at the time of the accident,” the release said.

The release noted that JPD’s Traffic Unit was investigating the accident, and that it was ongoing. It added that more information would be released as it became available.

Dickson worked in the Craighead County Circuit Clerk’s office. On Thursday afternoon, the county issued a statement on social media:

“It is with deep sadness that we mourn of the passing of our colleague and friend, Mike Dickson, who passed Wednesday, March 4th after being struck by a vehicle while using a crosswalk at Washington and Main Street. Mike was a valued member of the Craighead County Circuit Clerk’s office and will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with each family member, friend and County employee impacted by Mike’s passing.”

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Arkansas State Police (ASP) have identified the victim in Wednesday’s fatal pedestrian accident.

According to an ASP crash report released Thursday, the victim was 73-year-old Edwin Michael Dickson of Jonesboro. The accident occurred on Main and Washington around 2:28 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

The report said a 2016 Jeep Compass turned westbound when it struck Dickson. The report did not list the vehicle’s driver.

The report lists the road conditions as dry and the weather as cloudy. Dickson was transported to St. Bernards, where he later died.
